Jane Hunt, MD of Catapult PR, was born in Blackpool and educated at Claremont Junior School and Fleetwood Grammar School. From there, she studied for an MA in History at Cambridge University, being a student at the then New Hall (now Murray Edwards) and then starting post-graduate studies at Trinity College, Cambridge.
Despite having aspirations to be a journalist, her first job was in the City, working for a Japanese stockbroking firm as the Executive Secretary to 6 directors. She gained her first job in PR with freight forwarder, MSAS, in Bracknell and her second with the South Western Electricity Board (SWEB), in Bristol. Staying within PR in the utilities sector, she moved to British Gas South Western, before being seconded to the national press office in London, where she specialised in catering sector PR and sponsorship maximisation.
She moved back north to become PR manager at Swinton Insurance, before being headhunted to launch Privilege Insurance, moving to a PR agency for the first time. Her second PR agency job was as a director of a Leeds-based agency, handling the Yorkshire Bank and Green Flag accounts, plus the Everton FC sponsorship.
Jane established Catapult in 1998, making it NW PR Agency of the Year within two years. Well over 35 awards have since been won, in recognition of her PR talents, the campaigns conducted for clients and the agency’s content prowess. Driven to excel, and a perfectionist by default, she is regarded as a major asset and team-player by clients nationwide.
