Our managing director is Jane Hunt, a Blackpool-born lass who has lived and worked across the UK. Educated at Claremont Junior School and Fleetwood Grammar School, she gained an MA in History, at New Hall College, Cambridge University (now Murray Edwards) and then carried out a year’s research into the partition of India, at Trinity College, Cambridge.
A career in PR started in freight-forwarding in Bracknell. She then moved to Bristol and into the Utilities, working for the South Western Electricity Board as PR Manager, catering PR guru and latterly editor of employee newspaper, SWEB News. Switching sides, she moved to British Gas SW in Keynsham, again handling all catering PR and PR Manager duties, before a secondment at British Gas HQ in London. There, she was responsible for all catering PR and the maximisation of British Gas’s extensive CSR and sponsorship programme.
Moving back north, she became PR Manager and employee newsletter editor at Swinton Insurance, before being headhunted to join a PR agency and launch Privilege Insurance. Her second agency job saw her in Leeds, as account director for clients such as Yorkshire Bank, Green Flag Motor and Home Rescue, Britannia and Danka (Everton FC sponsorship).
In 1998, she founded Catapult PR and the rest is history, with Catapult becoming NW PR Consultancy of the Year by 2020, having already won the Grand Prix Award, for the best PR campaign in the NW, in 1999.
By the end of 2021, she had added a staggering 50 awards to the trophy cabinet – and over 80 runners-up accolades. The track-record is second-to-none and she has, unsurprisingly, won the national CIPR Excellence Award for Outstanding PR Practitioner on two occasions (2012 and 2021).
Driven to excel, and a perfectionist by default, she is regarded as a major asset and contributor to client business successes. Catapult PR has become an essential part of client teams across Britain, whether they are one-man-band start-ups or global insurance companies.
