Two Shortlistings for Hotel’s Tourism PR Campaign

Our tourism PR and travel PR expertise, specifically in the hospitality sector, has again been rewarded. Our small but perfectly formed Lancashire-based PR and content agency, Catapult PR, is currently shortlisted for two coveted Prolific North Marketing Awards 2025. This is for a PR and content marketing campaign conducted for a hotel.

These awards celebrate the best marketing campaigns created by all types of marketing agency, individuals, freelancers and in-house marketing departments.  They judge work from across the north and Scotland, encompassing the north west, Yorkshire and north east, as well as all locations north of the border.  With so many agencies operating in this geographical area, just being shortlisted is a huge achievement.

Catapult PR – a tourism PR and travel PR natural

Catapult PR, headquartered in Poulton-le-Fylde, has achieved a shortlisting twice-over.  We are both a finalist for the award for ‘Best PR Campaign’ and for  the ‘Best Tourism and Leisure campaign’.  It’s all very appropriate for a PR agency on the doorstep of the British tourism giant of Blackpool!

Our shortlistings demonstrate Catapult PR’s continued record of success, year after year.  Our campaigns have either won, or been a finalist for an award at the Prolific North Marketing Awards, every year in recent memory.

The tourism PR campaign recognised

The campaign that has been recognised was created for a Northumberland castle hotel, on an extremely modest budget.  They demonstrate the benefits of creativity in PR, combined with excellent media relations work and positioning strategy.

In addition, phenomenal results underpin the campaign, which has combined both PR and content, to deliver extraordinary impacts.

Further impacts of our tourism PR campaign

Looking beyond the Prolific North Marketing Awards, the tourism PR campaign has also supported an entry in the client’s local tourism awards.  The PR impacts are one indicator of overall success but have also helped enhance visibility considerably, which inevitably feeds into bookings and business.

Objectives have also been strategically achieved through a new content download, which highlights the ability to use the venue as a canvas against which to paint any event.

Tourism PR campaign delivered down other channels

A podcast, detailing the history behind a daily Battlements Tour, is another facet to the campaign.  This has also been supported by a new initiative – a Young Battlements Tour Guide of the Year competition.  Aiming to identify young tourism talent, we have created something unique here.

Our creative PR credentials

The Catapult PR campaign will face competition from entrants representing huge brands, operating with budgets that will dwarf Catapult PR’s.  That has not, however, prevented us from scooping 69 awards to date and over 90 finalist accolades.  Although we are a specialist PR and content agency, best described as ‘boutique’ in size, we have become the most successful regional PR agency, of this size, in the whole of the UK, in terms of our award record. That is often due to our creative approaches, backed by hard work and passion for our clients’ businesses.

Long-term hotel marketing and PR campaign success

This year’s campaign is, in fact, not the first award-recognised campaign that we have created for this Northumberland-based hospitality-sector client.  We have represented the castle hotel since May 2015 and have won various national and regional awards for our work for the hotel during these 10 years.

This includes a national CIPR Excellence Award for Best Travel, Art, Sport and Leisure Campaign (2018), a Highly Commended at the national CIPR Excellence Awards for Best Use of Content (2022) and a Highly Commended national accolade at the Travel Marketing Awards, for Best PR Campaign (2022).

The regional travel PR awards for this client run to a long list.

Our response to the Prolific North Marketing Award shortlistings 2025

As our managing director, Jane Hunt, says: “The Prolific North Marketing Awards have their own distinct vibe and the individual awards are much-desired by the biggest agencies across the North and Scotland, not to mention various companies and entities, across all sectors.  They are a very big deal in the overall marketing world, not just PR.

“For us, as a boutique PR agency, operating on a very tight time basis due to the size of fee, to even be up for consideration is astounding.  It speaks volumes about our passion and the quality of our work, as well as indicating our ability to devise the right strategy for the right client.”
