PR for Outdoor Attractions and Country Shows
Catapult PR has become a specialist in promoting the essence of countryside living and outdoor lifestyles. It has been working extensively in the rural county of Cumbria for 25 years, bringing the joys of rural communities to the attention of those who have the potential to become visitors, business associates and allies.

‘Cumbrian PR agency’
Catapult PR has handled campaigns for so many clients in Cumbria that it is often regarded as a Cumbrian PR agency, working across the Lake District, Eden Valley, Western Lake District and borderlands. When we consider our extensive work in Northumberland too, we have operated at the heart of very many rural communities. We have provided award-winning campaigns and compelling content, to many clients with very modest budgets.

Rural PR and stately homes and gardens’ PR
Our campaigns have often been associated with tourism, in one form or another, be that nature tourism, farm tourism or sustainable tourism. This has also led us to handle nature and sustainable briefs in Italy.
We started this journey by creating a nationally recognised PR campaign for the North West Farm Tourism Initiative, back in the mid-Noughties. However, prior to that, we put our stamp on PR for stately homes and gardens, starting a process of creating Gold award-winning campaigns for stately homes which continues to this day. If there are gardens or a garden festival to promote, we are a logical point of call and our record of achievement for stately homes and gardens is second to none.

PR for country shows and events
When it comes to country shows, our most recent example of high-impact work has been for Grasmere Lakeland Sports and Show. We have added numerous aspects to the marketing of this rural heritage event in the years from 2020 to 2025, with the first of those being somewhat difficult due to the pandemic. Since life got back to normal, we have generated TV, radio and extensive coverage for this event, put together engaging videos and posts for social media and recorded a variety of podcasts.
We have also supported the Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, hound racing and fell running communities, at home and internationally.
Wildlife and walking PR campaigns
Other campaigns have been thematic, based around wildlife, rural food and drink, birdwatching, story walks and walking holidays. We were the agency that first launched the Original Shepherdess, Alison O’Neill, and then later also created a raft of publicity around her barefoot walks.

Farm attraction PR
A variety of farm visitor attractions, based in locations from Houghton-le-Spring in Tyne and Wear, to Sedgwick near Kendal, have also been supported by our PR campaigns and made national and regional headlines.
PR for country festivals and other outdoor activities
Festivals, country shows and equestrian businesses have also been thrown into the spotlight and derived huge benefits from the exposure and ideas we have created.
And, if we want to look at outdoor lifestyles in another way, our award-winning campaigns in the motorcycling sector have also made waves. We were also the first agency to create a biker-friendly stop-off guide, to weave our prowess in motorcycling promotions in with tourism.

Summary of our rural PR experience
Positioning countryside themes and experiences in the right way, for the right audiences, is our forte. We understand how to break down barriers between urban and rural communities and engender a desire to try new nature-based experiences and an outdoor way of life. If that sounds like the sort of support you need for your rural business, country show or event, or stately home and gardens, please email jane@catapultpr.co.uk
